Ireland star calls for 'common sense' after Healy departure

Ireland star Denise O’Sullivan has aired her frustration at Colin Healy’s departure from the international coaching ticket.

Ex-Ireland international and former Cork City manager Healy was Eileen Gleeson’s assistant.

The FAI decided not to renew Gleeson’s contract after missing out on the Euro 2025 finals following the playoff defeat to Wales.

And the association also parted ways with Healy, although he has been linked as one of the potential candidates to succeed Gleeson in the top job.

But star player O’Sullivan is frustrated with the decision to let Healy go and she hit out on social media network X, formerly Twitter.

O’Sullivan, the Ireland centurion, wrote: "When a coach of Colin Healy's calibre wants to stay involved I think it’s common sense to do whatever you can to keep him on.

"Major loss for the team. I’m disappointed to say the least."
