Registration for school moves online

Parents of next year’s first year primary school students can now register their children online, the education ministry announced on Friday as part of efforts to modernise the registration process.

The announcement concerns the launch of the eDEA portal for the registration of public school students.

For the first time, all registrations of grade one primary school children will take place online through the new portal. Parents and guardians must create an account on the CY Login platform by January 6 and then access the eDEA online portal to set up their profile in the electronic registration system.

Registrations will then take place electronically from January 7 to 19, also via the eDEA portal. Transfers will be conducted through the portal as well, from January 23 to 26.

The ministry announced the portal will later support the registration and transfer of students entering gymnasium and lyceum for the 2025-2026 academic year. Parents and guardians of these students are encouraged to create a CY Login account.

The move follows the successful pilot implementation of electronic registrations in three high schools in June 2024.

The eDEA project is one of the largest e-governance initiatives in the education sector and is being implemented under the Thalia 2021-2027 programme co-financed by the European Union (EU) in collaboration with the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy.
