Apology issued for what children 'had to witness' after 'flurry of activity' and arrests at Irish play centre
A spokesperson for the PSNI has apologised to children present at a play centre for what they 'had to witness' following a 'flurry of activity' on Wednesday.
Multiple police vehicles and several officers attended an incident in Newcastle, Co Down on Wednesday evening, with footage showing PSNI officers running into Coco's Adventure Playground, reports Belfast Live.
In a statement, a PSNI spokesperson said that the activity was in relation to two males, who were both eventually arrested, as one initially escaped after assaulting a police officer. Two PSNI officers were injured in the incident.

"You may have seen a flurry of activity in and around Newcastle Main Street earlier this evening," the police statement read.
"This was in relation to two wanted males, one was apprehended but the other made off after assaulting an Officer. A short time later, the male was located and arrested.
"Two officers suffered injuries and both males remain in custody. Apologies for the activity the kids in the play area had to witness, but such was the aggressiveness and volatility of the male involved, a number of officers were required to protect the public, themselves and the male."
