Detroit Lions head coach visibly concerned as plays accidentally 'leaked' by star
Detroit Lions' boss Dan Campbell couldn't hide his concern after it emerged that Jahmyr Gibbs might have accidentally given away team secrets on social media. In the wake of the Lions' nail-biting 23-20 victory over the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving, Gibbs shared a celebratory snap of teammate Jermar Jefferson online.
The young star was buzzing from the win, having racked up an impressive 87 yards in just nine carries, contributing to Detroit's ascent to an 11-1 record. But the photo inadvertently showcased more than just team spirit; a whiteboard in the background seemed to reveal the Lions' dropback protections for running backs.
When quizzed about the potentially revealing post featuring some of their plays, Lions head coach Campbell, who had been unaware of the leak, was clearly concerned.
"Oh I didn't know that," he admitted, the frustration evident in his tone. "Yeah, I need to check on that. Did not know that. Yeah, I'd rather our stuff not be out there."
After addressing the issue, Campbell promptly expressed his gratitude to the press and exited the stage. His brief but telling reaction left no doubt that the head coach was none too pleased with the prospect of his team's strategies being laid bare.
Gibbs was clearly not intending to spill any secrets about the Lions' strategy, but there's a buzz around whether he might face repercussions from the NFC North team, especially if he was the one who shared the snap. The details of the posted board remain somewhat ambiguous and it’s uncertain how much tactical info it actually spilled.
This season, Detroit's offense has been known to design plays inside the huddle, then use various code words for audibles at the line, plus a backup signal indicated by Jared Goff's shout of "Kill! Kill! ".

Despite this slip-up, Coach Campbell seems to manage his team tightly and is expected to deal with Gibbs privately, advising the young running back regarding his online shares. Any rivals studying the post might not glean too much they can use to their advantage, but they'll sure try.
Gibbs, together with his squadmate David Montgomery, makeup one of the NFL's most envied running back pairs, drawing parallels to video game icons Sonic and Knuckles. By week 12, Gibbs has notched up a leading 973 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on foot, and nabbed an extra 282 yards and another touchdown through passing plays.
The Lions, with Gibbs, are set to clash with division foes the Green Bay Packers in a Thursday Night Football face-off on Dec. 5.
