Two injured as fire breaks out in Naxxar industrial complex

Two people have been injured in a fire that broke out in Naxxar last night, Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri has said.

In a post on Facebook, the minister said that the two injured persons are a worker and a volunteer.

The fire is under control but the operation is still ongoing, he said.

Earlier, the minister said that a delicate fire-fighting operation is underway by Civil Protection in Naxxar. Other law enforcement forces are assisting, he said. 

Part of Naxxar's Burmarrad Road, close to It-Telgħa t'Alla u Ommu, is currently closed off to traffic as members of the Civil Protection Department are still on site. 

The police were first informed about a fire, which broke out in a storage unit, at Triq Burmarrad at around 8pm on Thursday.

Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia is leading an inquiry.
