Fans rub salt into Pep Guardiola's wounds amid concerning facial injuries after Man City draw

Pep Guardiola's latest nightmare night saw Feyenoord fans taunt him with LIVERPOOL songs.

Guardiola saw his Manchester City side throw away a commanding 3-0 lead against the Eredivisie team. The reigning Premier League champions fell apart in the final 15 minutes to leave the Etihad Stadium stunned.

First Anis Hadj Moussa took advantage of a mistake by Josko Gvardiol to score Feyenoord's first goal, before substitute Santiago Gimenez chested in their second with eight minutes remaining.

They completed their stunning comeback when David Hancko pounced in the 89th minute. Guardiola's side have now failed to win in their last six games and the City boss was curiously left with several cuts on his face after the game.

To rub further salt into those wounds, the jubilant Feyenoord fans could be heard singing Liverpool chants in the away end. First, they chanted ' Arne Slot La La La' in recognition of their former manager, who is now in charge of the Reds.

After Hancko equalised in the dying moments of the game, the Feyenoord fans broke out into a rendition of 'You’ll Never Walk Alone', a chant closely linked to Liverpool. City face a daunting trip to Anfield on Sunday having failed to win any of their last six games.

Slot has been backed to add further pain to Guardiola by Feyenoord boss Brian Priske. The Dane admitted he hoped his predecessor was proud of Tuesday's performance and tipped him to do his own 'dirty job' on City.

“I’m sure he’s [Slot] proud. As an ex-Feyenoord manager, I’m sure he’s following [results], I know that. We’ve definitely done everything we could to help him as well. He had a massive impact on the club over the last three years," Priske said. "He definitely gave me a good start as well, with a good team and Champions League [qualification]. So I’m really happy that, hopefully, we can help him a bit, and he needs to do the dirty job at the weekend.

"If you are from Feyenoord Rotterdam, it is an unbelievable evening, 3-0 down away from home against, for me, still the best team in the world. Obviously you always believe, but it was a difficult game. The first 25 minutes, they played fast football, we were not as tight as we wanted, ended up too low. At 3-0 down, you definitely think this is going to be long night, tough evening.

"But without any tactical [changes], just individual quality, moments, gave us the draw. The players stayed in the game, kept pushing and kept believing. I can only praise them."

Guardiola appeared post-match for his interviews looking somewhat battered and bruised after his side's disastrous second half, with noticeable cuts and marks on his face and head.

Asked the reason for the injuries, he suggested that they came about via a self-inflicted accident: “My finger, here [points to nose]. My nail. I want to harm myself.”

On his side's performance he added: “Three episodes didn’t allow us to win, what we needed. For many, many reasons, not just for the terms of qualification and get the points to go through. Other reasons.

“It’s what it is. So difficult to swallow right now. The game was good. We scored three, we could have scored more, we do everything but at the end, we give away especially the first one and after we are not stable enough to do it."
