Baffled Roy Keane blasts Manchester United reaction to going ahead against Ipswich

Roy Keane blasted Manchester United’s reaction to their early lead at Ipswich Town and declared that “there’s nothing to fear” playing against the Red Devils.

New boss Ruben Amorim got off to a dream start when Marcus Rashford converted Amad Diallo’s cross from the right inside the second minute at Portman Road.

However, Ipswich quickly grew into the game and were denied an equaliser by a spectacular Andre Onana save against Liam Delap.

They were rewarded for their efforts with a deserved equaliser two minutes before half-time, when Omari Hutchinson’s brilliant curler was deflected into the top left-hand corner of the net.

Keane praised United’s quickfire opening, saying during Sky Sports’ coverage of the game: “Brilliant start by United, first minute of the game.

“I’m not sure if (Rashford) connects properly with the cross, I’m not sure about the goalkeeper, but this is what you want from your wing-backs from an attack-minded player.

“Great start by United but they’ve not really done much after that and Ipswich have deserved their equaliser. But a great start from United, I think the manager couldn’t believe it.”

Commenting on their failure to build on the goalscoring start, Keane added: “There’s nothing to fear when you are playing United. United get a great start and then they sit back.

“I’m looking at United going, what are you waiting for? Go after Ipswich. But they sit back and give Ipswich a lot of encouragement, and they deserved an equaliser."
