ITV I'm A Celebrity new arrivals Maura and Richard play savage trick on campmate Melvin
Maura Higgins and Reverand Richard Coles pulled a cheeky trick on I'm A Celebrity campmate Melvin Odoom.
The Love Islander, 33, and the former Communards star, 62, made their late arrival into the Australian jungle on Thursday night. As part of their entrance into the show, Maura and Richard were given their very first challenge. The pair reached a clearing in the jungle and were greeted by a note.
They were told the details of their challenge, which required them to convince their fellow celebrities that life in the Jungle Junkyard is really tough. Instead of joining the main camp straight away, Maura and Richard stayed in Jungle Junkyard. It is a basic camp that contains overgrown greenery, rusty corrugated metal and zero luxury.

BBC Radio 1 presenter Melvin joined the new celebrities in the ‘Waste Facility’. The directions read: "You will be on the top level and drop offal onto him in the section below. If he can catch it and fill the bucket to the yellow line, he will win a treat for the main camp.” However, in typical I'm A Celebrity fashion there was a twist.

They read: “While it will be tough for him, you will not endure any hardship, in fact quite the opposite but he must think you are also having a terrible time.” Maura joked: “You better be a good actor!” Richard promised her: “I’m gonna give it everything I’ve got.” The pair then got into positions on the top level.
Melvin arrived into the challenge where he learnt he would be working against the clock to win 10 cupcakes for camp. Maura and Richard said hello to Melvin through a peephole. They cheekily said they weren't looking forward to the challenge, as Marvin told them: "Work as a team. We got this!”
Entering the bottom section, Melvin urged Richard to “Say a quick prayer”. Then Maura and Richard pulled a chain to release a bucket that sent offal down to Melvin. Unknown to Melvin, his new campmates relaxed with a cup of tea, some cheese sandwiches and a fruit platter, all the while making noises to convince him they’re having a terrible time.
Melvin eventually won the challenge, as he shouted: “Thank you Rev, thank you Maura! Hopefully I get to see you soon ok, love to you!” Despite Melvin's success he soon learnt the camp will only receive half of the cupcakes as a treat due to Dean McCullough sneaking in teabags as contraband.
When returning to camp, Melvin read out a note which revealed there will be a jungle amnesty. They were told to “bring all remaining contraband to the Bush Telegraph to avoid further punishment.” Dean eventually made his way to the Bush Telegraph to give up his teabag contraband. However, Tulisa revealed another campmate had shared seasoning with her, which she hasn’t used. In the end, the culprit is none other than Melvin, who gave it to Tulisa slyly when she was cooking on the first day.
