Teddy Sheringham explains why Roy Keane should be manager of Manchester United
Teddy Sheringham believes former Manchester United captain Roy Keane would be an ideal candidate to take over the club as manager.
Sheringham, who scored in United’s 1999 Champions League final win over Bayern Munich, thinks Keane’s leadership skills would give him the platform to become successful in the role following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has been caretaker manager for the club’s last three games, winning two and drawing one.

Sheringham also added, when speaking to FlashScore, that Gary Neville could have been a good replacement.
“It’s normally the good talkers that become the best managers, so I would’ve expected Gary Neville to go on and manage Manchester United until his spell at Valencia put him off,” Sheringham said.
“I do think that United could’ve done a lot worse than appointing Roy Keane, he would ruffle a few feathers although there is a question mark over whether you can still manage that way.
“But Keane is a leader of men and would take the reins and say follow me. The Manchester United fans would love him in charge, but he’ll have his own reasons for not managing recently.”
Sheringham, Keane and Neville were all teammates when United completed the famous treble and holds belief, amongst other fans, that an ex-United player from the club’s glory days would be best suited to putting them on the right track after a torrid decade after Alex Ferguson’s departure.
Keane has managed Sunderland and Ipswich in the past but has not been on the sidelines since joining Martin O’Neill at Nottingham Forest but left the role in June 2019.
