Associate of crime boss John Gilligan fighting for his life after hit-and-run collision


An associate of mob boss John Gilligan was fighting for his life last night – after a hit and run incident.



The man, who is in his 20s, was seriously injured in the horror collision in Clondalkin, west Dublin early yesterday morning.



Sources have confirmed he is an associate of Gilligan, 70, who is now living in Spain.

The incident happened on the Coldcut Road in Clondalkin at around 1.45pm, gardai said. He was struck by a van which failed to top at the scene.



Emergency services were called to the scene and the man, who is in his 20s, was brought to hospital for treatment of injuries which are described as serious.



A technical examination of the scene has been carried and the road has since reopened to traffic.



Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. They are also seeking any camera footage, including dash-cam video from those travelling in the area at the time, to assist with the investigation.
