Shamrock Rovers v Shelbourne live updates from the League of Ireland clash

Shamrock Rovers welcome league leaders Shelbourne to Tallaght Stadium this evening for a crucial top-of-the-table clash.

With Rovers trailing Shels by five points with just four games left, Stephen Bradley's side can't afford any more slip-ups if they are to win a fifth consecutive title.

Boosted by a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw with APOEL in the Europa Conference League during the week, Rovers will be gunning for a victory to put pressure on their Dublin rivals.

Shelbourne have a four-point lead over second-placed Derry City, who have a game in hand over Damien Duff's outfit.

But as well as dealing with multiple injuries, Shels are desperate for what would be their first victory since beating Dundalk in late August.

The match is scheduled for a 5.45pm at Tallaght Stadium and will be shown live on RTE 2 and can be streamed on the RTE Player.

Shamrock Rovers and Shelbourne have both named their teams for today's crucial League of Ireland Premier Division clash. The big question is, who plays centre-half for Shelbourne? Between injuries and suspensions, they are missing key defenders. So full-back Sean Gannon and Kameron Ledwidge are likely to pair up in the centre, with midfielder John O'Sullivan slotting in at right-back. Here are the starting-XIs, with our guess at how the two teams will line out...

Rovers: Leon Pohls; Sean Hoare, Roberto Lopes, Dan Cleary; Neil Farrugia, Dylan Watts, Gary O'Neill, Darragh Burns; Danny Mandroiu, Jack Byrne; Johnny Kenny.

Shels: Conor Kearns; John O'Sullivan, Sean Gannon, Kameron Ledwidge, Tyreke Wilson; Rayhaan Tulloch, Mark Coyle, Evan Caffrey, Ali Coote; John Martin, Sean Boyd.

We are into the crunch time of this League of Ireland season as the reigning champions Shamrock Rovers host the main challengers to their throne.

Shelbourne's lead has whittled away in recent weeks to leave them with little room for dropping any more points.

Damien Duff's side are also dealing with a host of injury problems with the squad down to its bare bones in many aread.

How they will cope against a Rovers bouyed by their European adventures of late? It promises to be a fascinating watch.
