Kieran McGeeney to lead Armagh's All-Ireland title defence

Kieran McGeeney will lead Armagh in their defence of the All-Ireland title after getting unanimous support at this evening's county committee meeting.

McGeeney will take charge of his 11th successive season in 2025, making him the longest-serving current inter-county manager.

The 52-year-old will be supported again by a backroom team of Kieran Donaghy, Conleth Gilligan and Ciaran McKeever.

Last year, McGeeney's future as Armagh boss was famously put to a vote, having failed to gain support from many Orchard County clubs.

But there were no doubters at today's county committee meeting about McGeeney's credentials to lead Armagh in their All-Ireland defence.

McGeeney took over the county in 2015 when they were toiling in Division Three.

Their progression has been steady ever since, albeit without the silverware Armagh fans craved.

But after a heartbreaking loss in the Ulster final this summer, McGeeney led his native county to their first All-Ireland title since he captained them to win the Sam Maguire in 2002.
