FM urges Italians to leave Lebanon

Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister
Antonio Tajani on Saturday urged Italians to leave Lebanon as
soon as possible on flights that are still connecting Beirut to
Milan and Rome amid escalating violence between Israel and
Hezbollah.

"We urge all Italian citizens to leave Lebanon with commercial
flights that continue to be operational from the airport of
Beirut to Milan and Rome", Tajani said, speaking from Berlin
during a visit with President Sergio Mattarella.

"We have tried to safeguard in the best way possible our
military.

"We have sought reassurance from the Israeli government which
has guaranteed for our 1,200 soldiers who are at the border
between Hezbollah and Israel", he added.
