Cian Healy and Devin Toner embrace after record-breaking Leinster appearance

It was a record-breaking night for Cian Healy when he took to the field for Leinster for the 281st time.

Healy, who made his debut back in 2007, overtook Devin Toner for the honour in a legendary career.

The 36-year-old played his part in Leinster's 34-6 victory over the Dragons on Friday night starting the game and afterwards Toner was on hand to present his old pal with cap 281.

Giving a speech inside the Aviva Stadium dressing room, Toner said: "A lot of people have asked me if I'm pissed off you've broken the record but honestly I'm not, I can't think of a more deserving person.

"When you look at your career, 281 (caps) for Leinster, 131 for Ireland throw in a couple of near career-ending injuries and a couple of months on the sideline I think it is a phenomenal achievement and a testament to you as a person and a player to get to where you have and stay there for so long.

"When you look at Leinster for the past 19 or 20 years you've been there for all the highs but you have also been there for all the lows as well. For all the special times that have happened with Leinster, you've been there. You've been such an important cornerstone of the team.

"I think it is a record that won't be broken. Huge congratulations and I couldn't be happier for a more deserving person."

The praise didn't stop there with Leo Cullen speaking to the media after.

"It's phenomenal really. Dev, what he was just touching on it, to get that number of caps, when you add in all the Irish tests, 131 of them, which are two insanely large numbers in terms of the modern professional game.

"Some of the injuries he's had to overcome over the course of his career. He's still going strong, he's great now and is certainly a unique individual."
