Prince Harry says 'final goodbye' to royal life in the UK after 'last straw with family'

Prince Harry has bid a "final goodbye" to royal life in the UK after he endured the "last straw" with his family, a royal expert claims.

Earlier this year it was revealed that the Duke of Sussex had changed his primary residence from the United Kingdom to the United States, with the change backdated to June 29, 2023 - the same day Buckingham Palace confirmed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had vacated their former residence in England, Frogmore Cottage, with them handing back the keys at the request of the King.

More than a year ago, back in March 2023 following the Duke of Sussex's memoir Spare hitting bookshelves, it was revealed that King Charles had asked his son and his wife Meghan Markle to vacate Frogmore Cottage. And this left Harry "furious", a royal expert exclusively tells us.

And it has been claimed his return for the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games was the Duke's final "goodbye" to royal life and his former homeland. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, royal expert and author Tom Quinn said: "Harry is scheduled to speak at St Paul’s Cathedral in London on May 8 to mark the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games. The Games were founded by Harry when he was still a working royal so pressure isn’t being brought to bear to make him give it up now."

He added: "But even if Harry begged to be allowed back to help out - even if his father King Charles became so ill he was unable to carry out his duties - whatever happens, the call to help will never go out to Montecito. Making the US his primary residence is Harry’s final goodbye."

This comes after Mr Quinn told us that Harry had endured the "last straw" when he and Meghan were evicted from Frogmore Cottage. "At the time, few people realised what a slap in the face the eviction from Frogmore felt like for Harry – it was the last straw," he told us. The Mirror has contacted Prince Harry's representatives and Buckingham Palace for comment.
