RTE viewers praise Dublin Rose Casey Harris as a 'breath of fresh air' after honest interview

RTÉ viewers have praised one Rose as a “breath of fresh air” as the 64th annual Rose of Tralee competition comes to a close for another year.

Some of the beauty of the competition lies in being able to meet women of all walks of life who take part, with viewers gushing about Dublin Rose Casey Harris.

The Finglas native stunned the audience in a beautiful blue gown that showed off her tattoos as she spoke of the pride of being able to represent the area she was from.

Casey said: "Being from Finglas, it wasn't something you heard, Finglas and the Rose of Tralee going hand in hand. Obviously I have a lot of tattoos, it wasn't something that I had necessarily seen on a platform like this and it just seemed very out of reach."

The Dublin Rose spoke to Kathryn Thomas about how she was proud to show off where she was from.

"It's unfortunately an area that gets a lot of negative media and it's disheartening to see as someone who's so proud of where they come from and who's so in touch with the community," Casey shared.

"I have the great pleasure of teaching young people in Finglas and being a part of a lot of community efforts, things like Finglas Addiction Support Team and working very closely with some of the most amazing people in the country.

"It's such a huge privilege for me to be able to stand here and represent the best of the community that I come from and I'm so proud of."

"My winner so far anyway. what a breath of fresh air. just feels like a normal girl. Love love love Casey. some voice as well. ugh. queen," one viewer said.

Another penned: "Ah God, hearing the Dublin Rose say she thought it was out of reach for her because she's covered in tattoos. What a dote (and how lovely to see how far the competition has come)."

“Dublin Rose is a breath of fresh air! More power to her!" a third wrote.
