Melania Trump appears for first time since Donald's assassination attempt as she struts into RNC

Melania Trump stood by her husband as he delivered his speech on Thursday night, strutting into the final day of the 2024 Republican National Convention, looking glamorous and sporting a striking red dress as she made quite the entrance.

The ex-first lady had been notably absent for most of the RNC, despite her spouse being confirmed as the Republican presidential candidate earlier that week. Spouses of presidential hopefuls traditionally address the RNC crowd; Melania herself took the stage in both the 2016 and 2020 conventions, where her speeches bore striking resemblances to those of former first lady Michelle Obama.

This appearance follows shortly after Melania's public statement regarding the assassination attempt on Donald Trump last Saturday at a campaign event in Butler, Pennsylvania. "When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realised my life, and Barron's life, were on the brink of devastating change," she said in her statement.

The final day of the conference has seen a wide variety of speakers, from the general manager of Trump's golf resorts to former pro wrestler Hulk Hogan, who shredded his shirt in front of attendees as he shared his passion for "Trumpmania."

Former first lady Melania Trump was cheered loudly when mentioned by other speakers during the previous nights, but she finally entered the arena on the final night wearing a red jacket and pencil skirt suit and waving to the crowds.

Melania has been conspicuously absent from the ex-president's campaign trail, reports the Mirror US.

The former First Lady appeared dressed all in red as she walked into the Milwaukee convention hall, shortly before her husband took to the stage. The speech marks his first public comments since a 20-year-old with a rifle tried to shoot him at a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday.

She will not be speaking at the convention. Her office was the one that declined an invitation for Barron Trump to appear as a Florida delegate after the state’s Republican party chose him to join the delegation saying the couple’s youngest son had “prior commitments.”

Her presence helps the Republican party show unity, a theme that has emerged more prominently after the attempt on Trump’s life. A day after the attack, Melania issued a statement calling on Americans to “ascend above hate, the vitriol, and the simple-minded ideas that ignite violence.”
