Baby Rosie steals the show during RTE interview with her mother Julie-Ann Russell after Ireland's win over France

Baby Rosie stole the show as her mother and goalscorer Julie-Ann Russell was interviewed by RTE following Ireland's 3-1 victory over France.

Russell was named the player of the match after scoring Ireland's second goal at Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Tuesday evening as the Girls in Green recorded a famous win in Cork.

There was a strong Cork influence to each of Ireland’s three goals, with hometown hero Denise O’Sullivan scoring the first and assisting the second, before substitute Megan Connolly’s corner delivered the insurance strike at the start of nine minutes of injury time.

Speaking after the game, Galway United forward Russell, who scored her second goal in two games, dedicated the strike to her 13-month-old daughter.

“I can’t believe it really, what a game, incredible,” she told RTE. “The fans were fantastic. I’m just so happy.

“I can’t believe it. It’s so surreal. The goals are all for Rosie. The celebration is iconic, it’s lovely and she can look at it when she’s older and hopefully it can inspire other mothers.

“We’d a few chances in the first-half, I was guilty myself. We went on with the mentality.

"I’m delighted Denise scored, she is a legend in Irish football.

“The ball came over the top and I just went for it with my left foot. My dad is in Cork, I’ve load of relations here.”

And baby Rosie stole the show as she grabbed the microphone towards the end of the interview, much to the amusement of viewers.
