AI will create more jobs but also inequality says watchdog

Artificial Intelligence will will
create more jobs but also more inequality, Italy's privacy
watchdog said Wednesday.

"It is expected that artificial intelligence may replace, over
the next few years, around 85 million jobs but create 97 million
new ones, albeit with the risk of further new inequalities,"
said Pasquale Stanzione, president of the Guarantor for the
Protection of Personal Data Office.

He said the inequality would come from a process similar to how
"digital capitalism has produced the invisible jobs of the gig
economy".

Stanzione also warned that AI-run autonomous weapons can "become
the new atom bomb".
