Giorgetti hails approval of ITA-Lufthansa deal

Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti
expressed satisfaction on Wednesday after the European
Commission approved the proposed merger between ITA and
Lufthansa.

   
"Today we are concluding a historic, long-standing case,"
Giorgetti told a press conference.

   
"This is a success for this government - an Italian, European
and German success, even though negotiations were really tough.

   
"The positive solution comes via an operator like Lufthansa,
which comforts us and allows us to develop air traffic to and
from Italy, to develop the Italian economy.

   
"Rome will become the key hub for America and Africa".
