Madonna's daughter Lourdes mimics mum's iconic style in edgy ripped black dress at fashion show

Madonna's daughter Lourdes Leon mimicked her mum's eccentric sense of style as she stepped out in a risqué distressed black dress mirroring the Queen of Pop's look from 2016.

This week Madonna's 27-year-old daughter, who she shares with her ex Carlos Leon, stepped out in a daring ripped black body-con dress covered in holes to the Marc Jacobs Fall 2024 fashion show in New York City. The model paired the eccentric look with black strappy heels, large silver hoop earrings, and her jet black hair worn down in long cascading waves.

Lourdes seemed to inherit her mum's iconic sense of style as the Like a Virgin hitmaker stepped out in an almost identical dress back in 2016 when she attended the MET Gala. At the lavish event, the pop singer wore a black lace bondage-inspired Givenchy gown for the theme Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.

Madonna completed the edgy look with body jewelry and thigh-high leather boots. In an interview with Page Six, the Material Girl hitmaker's jeweler Neil Lane spoke about the sexy look and told the news outlet: "There were boobs out there, there was butt out there and the jewels complemented that.”

And while Madonna looked stunning in the sultry outfit, she was met with backlash at the time for wearing such a revealing outfit to the prestigious event. In the aftermath, Madonna claimed that the look was actually a statement against the societal constraints placed on women.

In an Instagram post, the chart-topping singer wrote: "We have fought and continue to fight for civil rights and gay rights around the world. When it comes to women's rights we are still in the dark ages. My dress at the Met Ball was a political statement as well as a fashion statement."

She went on to add: "The fact that people actually believe a woman is not allowed to express her sexuality and be adventurous past a certain age is proof that we still live in an age-ist and sexist society. I have never thought in a limited way and I'm not going to start. We cannot [a]ffect change unless we are willing to take risks.”

And while Madonna was met with hate after her bold look at the Met Gala, critics also slammed Lourdes' look at the fashion show. In a newly posted Reddit thread, one user wrote: "Someone help this child. My mother wasn’t great but at least she had the sense to tell me when I stepped out looking like a trash bag." Another brutally added: "This looks like my favorite 12 year old Victorias Secret cami bralette that I refuse to throw out and still wear because it’s so comfy. The material is so thin and worn that I pop a tear just reaching for a glass in a cabinet." And a third replied: "Some clothes (this dress) are meant for the trash can lol, I don't think anyone could pull this off."
