Swiftie mania results in shortage of stag and hen dos in Dublin this weekend

The popularity of global superstar Taylor Swift has caused a stag and hen do shortage in Dublin.

The leading organiser of pre-wedding getaways, Last Night Of Freedom, has drawn a blank when trying to book rooms in cities where the US icon is performing on the Eras tour.

One gutted customer, who wanted to celebrate in the Irish capital this weekend, complained: “Taylor Swift’s tour has ruined my hen do.” Hotels in cities on every stop of the tour have been booked up for months, squeezing out stag and hen groups in popular destinations also including Edinburgh, London, Liverpool and Cardiff.

Matt Mavir, managing director at Last Night of Freedom, said: “Swifties are taking over every city Taylor is playing this summer, which is great news for her fans, but bad news for stag and hen dos.

“Our customers can struggle to find a time of year when everyone in their group is free to celebrate, and they often choose the summer months to guarantee warm weather.

“Dublin is normally one of our biggest sellers and has for a long time been seen as the ideal destination for a hen do.

“So we’ve had been plenty of people who’ve had to postpone their celebration because it’s either completely full up or prices have got so high they’re unaffordable.”
