Gogglebox's Mary and Giles make marriage admission after 'split' claim

Gogglebox favourites Mary Killen and Giles Wood, both notable for their epic quirkiness and hilarious punchlines, have admitted some surprising truths about their matrimony following the claims of 'split' that had fans worried. Giles is known for his humorous jibes, often noting how the duo are "incompatible".

The couple, who've been together for a wholesome three decades and are blessed with two grown-up daughters, were candid in a fresh interview regarding their delightful on-screen banter which has Gogglebox fans worried time and again.

When asked if they believe people can relate to their marriage, Giles commented: "There's a friction there." Mary, who grew up in Larne, Co Antrim, agreed - but added viewers would not like to see them "split".

"I think they like us for disagreeing agreeably. They like us fighting but not splitting up," she stated. Giles followed up: "When we started, there [were comments about us] on Twitter, and although we don't watch Twitter, I did look at it once or twice, with morbid curiosity, at three in the morning."

He added to Idler: "Some were favourable and they said 'relationship gold', meaning, 'I wish I could have a row with my husband or wife and then laugh at it at the end.' Some families have three-day sulks when they fall out with each other."

The couple's love story began aged 21, and they have now been married for over 30 years. Mary has previously admitted that the programme ultimately repaired their marriage.

Interestingly, Mary once disclosed that their participation in the programme resulted in mending their conjugal bonds, adding another feather to the success of the beloved show.

In an interview with Daily Star, Mary previously commented on their relationship: "Giles and I were like ships that pass in the night. I got up early, he went to bed late and we rarely even ate together.

"I know a few couples who have split up because they have decided they can't stand one another." She added: "Sitting down and watching television reminded us how much we enjoyed the same jokes."

Viewers embraced the pair with open arms following their debut on the show in 2015, with the couple revealing: "Gogglebox allowed us to spend more quality time together, and we've been loved by the public ever since." The pair often refer to each other as "nutty" on the show.
