The German company Dynamit Nobel Defense is establishing a defense research center in Kaposvár (south-western Hungary) to support the Hungarian Defense Forces, Economx reports.

Dynamit Nobel Defense (DND) GmbH and the Defense Innovation Research Institute (VIKI) have signed an agreement to establish this center. The document was signed by László Deme, Deputy Secretary of State and Deputy Director General of VIKI, and Joachim Hutt, CEO of the company.

During a press conference held on the occasion of the signing, Avishey Reger, the company’s President, emphasized that the innovation center would support the Hungarian Defense Forces.

Kaposvár will be the company’s first such facility abroad.

László Deme mentioned that the company will provide the Hungarian Defense Forces with anti-tank arms systems. In Kaposvár, they plan to develop drones capable of identifying and detecting minefields using 3D mapping technology. This development will significantly contribute to strengthening Hungary’s defense capabilities.

In an interview with Economx, Minister of Defense Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky mentioned that those who previously believed in an era of eternal peace are now discussing the need to strengthen the army, given the ongoing war in Ukraine. Additionally, he noted that the military industry serves as another engine for the Hungarian economy.
