Muscat endangering magistrate, judges involved in Vitals case - Repubblika

With his words, Joseph Muscat – accused of corruption, fraud and money laundering – is endangering the magistrate who investigated him in the inquiry and the judiciary before whom he is still to appear, NGO Repubblika said in a statement.

Muscat has said that he is prepared to sue the NGO for the money that was spent in collecting evidence that will be used against him.

In its statement, Repubblika said that in the name of all the Maltese who were deprived of health services, it will be using all the power it has at law to see justice being done. Muscat should remember that the deal that was signed under his tenure as Prime Minister was cancelled because it was “fraudulent”, Repubblika said.

Now Muscat, with the help of Prime Minister Robert Abela, has embarked on a campaign of intimidation. “This is nothing new,” Repubblika said. It happened against Daphner Caruana Galizia, and “we all know how it ended,” the NGO added, referring to the journalist’s assassination in 2017.

What Muscat is saying is endangering the magistrate who investigated him and intimidating the magistrates and judges who will oversee his cases.

“He is also trying to intimidate us because we insisted that institutions do their job and act against those who break the law,” the NGO said.

The only person he is not criticising is the Attorney General who took the decision to take him to court, the NGO pointed out.
