PBS and Broadcasting Authority are part of the government censorship - Grech

PN Leader Bernard Grech said that Wednesday's court victory against PBS and the Broadcasting Authority, in favour of his party, should serve as confirmation that the Public Broadcasting Services, along with the Broadcasting Authority are part of the PL Government which aims to censor content.

He said that on Wednesday, the court delivered a ruling in favour of the PN after it was decided that PBS violated the party's fundamental rights in its reporting by choosing not to broadcast content regarding the PN.

He said that despite wanting to advertise itself as the government of the liberals, it still takes media several Freedom of Information requests and legal battles to obtain certain information, that otherwise would not come out.

Turning to the Vitals magisterial inquiry, the PN leader is urging for its publication as soon as possible because "it is evident that significant shortcomings were identified." He said that following the court's ruling of the Vitals contract being fraudulent, it is clear that the government, "together with foreigners" acted to defraud the nation.

"The government is never in favour of Malta, but in their personal best interest or in that of the few," he said.

The PN Leader also called for the resignation of Health Minister Chris Fearne and urged Prime Minister Robert Abela to withdraw Fearne's nomination for the European Commission post.

In addressing Fearne, he urged him to step down from his roles by "taking the honourable road." He stated that as long as Fearne remains in his position, the Deputy Prime Minister is not only damaging his own reputation, but also that of Malta.

Following the revealed charges against several people who were allegedly involved in the Vitals scandal, the PN Leader also called for the resignation of Edward Scicluna from his roles, including that of Governor of the central Bank of Malta, together with Ronald Mizzi a permanent secretary.

He said that if they don't resign themselves, then the Prime Minister should take action and sack them from their roles. He said that in such instances, although individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty, the charges are so serious that they warrant their removal.

The PN leader said that in the coming hours and days the PN will be taking all necessary actions and legal steps to "safeguard the rights" of the nation.
