Retail sales dropped 0.1% in volume in March - Istat





Retail sales were flat in value terms
in March with respect to February and dropped by 0.1% in volume,
Istat said on Wednesday.

   
The national statistics agency said retail sales were up by 2%
in March in value compared to the same month in 2023 but
increased by just 0.3% in volume terms year-on-year.

   
"Comparing March 2024 to the same month of the previous year,
large-scale distribution experienced a growth of 6.1%, whereas
other distribution channels saw declines; small-scale
distribution decreased by 1.5% and non-store retail sales
dropped by 2.6%," Istat said.

   
"After a consecutive five-month upward trend, online sales
exhibited a contraction of 2.4% when compared with March 2023".
