Two Hungarians in the Top 50 of World Tennis Rankings

Fábián Marozsán

With Fábián Marozsán ranked 36th and Márton Fucsovics ranked 50th, two Hungarians are among the top 50 in the latest ATP world rankings of men’s tennis, as released on Monday.

Marozsán’s second-round exit at the ATP Masters 1000 Madrid tournament has moved him up one place from two weeks ago to a career-best 36th. Fucsovics reached the quarter-finals in Cagliari last week, and although he was unable to play in this match due to a minor injury, he has moved up three places from his previous position.

To qualify for the Olympics, a player must be ranked in the top 56 in the world rankings by June 10,

but a maximum of four players per nation can be ranked in singles in Paris, so additional positions could be worth a quota.

In the women’s singles, the top Hungarian, Anna Bondár, is still ranked 95th, while Panna Udvardy (136th), Dalma Gálfi (141st), and Tímea Babos (196th) are also in the top 200, having improved by 15 places.

Serbian Novak Djokovic remains the top player in the men’s rankings – entering the 424th week of his career as number one – while Poland’s Iga Swiatek is the leader in the women’s rankings.
