Kim Kardashian offers wild explanation as she's mocked for Met Gala look

Kim Kardashian certainly turned heads at this year's Met Gala.

But the reality TV star's striking ensemble hasn't gone down well with fans after she stepped out on the red carpet wearing an "itchy nanna's blanket" that "ruined" her look. The mum-of-four wore a strapless, metallic dress which featured a taught corset. Her cinched bodice included an embroidered design which faded into the skirt made of chained flowers.

Over the top, she placed a small grey, cropped sweater, with fans confused as to why she'd cover up her glitzy gown with a plain cardigan. Her followers flocked to X, formally Twitter, on Monday night, with the conversation well and truly on Kim's bizarre cardigan.

" Kim Kardashian 's Met Gala sweater made from the itchy blanket from your childhood," penned one user. While another cruelly commented: "Kim Kardashian looks like she just got out of the hospital after breaking her torso." They continued: "Like they just wrapped her up real tight in a space blanket and gave her a cardigan. Not hot."

Kim spoke out on the red carpet, offering an explanation on the addition. She said: "This is like the wildest night of my life in a garden... I just ran out and grabbed my boyfriend's sweater, threw it on and had to get to work." She told reporters: "My hair's all messed up."

But fans weren't convinced at all, with another writing: "That sweater was a hot mess, though it looked like it needed a sweater razor to get all those balls off of it like something you pulled out of your grandma’s closet seen one too many days."

Some suggested something might have broken on Kim's outfit, with another saying: "Kim Kardashian’s sweater looks like a toddlers blanket that’s been dragged everywhere for two years." Another user commented: "You know what... This would have been more magical if she threw away this sweater she's holding."

While someone else asked: "Why did you ruin the dress with that half sweater." Theories continued as one of Kim's fans penned: "Something broke or was showing. She held that sweater so intentionally on the red carpet." Another agreed, saying: "What’s with the sweater…made me feel like the top of the dress had a malfunction they had to hide last second."

Fans had mixed thoughts on her disappearing waistline, saying she looked "like a doll." "The waist Omg the waist," wrote one fan on X. However, another rolled their eyes at her figure, writing: "The surgeries need to stawp, why her waist un-naturally like that?"
