Fans adamant that old Roy Keane clip shows he was right about Man Utd claim years ago

Fans are adamant that Roy Keane called it right about Manchester United's players with a claim he made five years ago.

The Red Devils suffered an embarrassing 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace on Monday night to heap pressure on Erik ten Hag, whose future at Old Trafford remains unclear.

Fans have been sharing the clip of Keane's infamous rant about United's players after they lost to Everton by the same scoreline in April 2019 when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge.

Speaking at the time, Keane said: "I don't fall for this carry on that there is going to be a brilliant reaction from these players. These are the same players that threw Mourinho under the bus and they will do exactly the same to Ole.

"Leopards do no change their spots. There are too many bluffers at this club to get United back to the very top.

"Even the point that we're talking about Man United trying to finish fourth tells you how the standards have dropped at United over the last few years both on and off the pitch."

After that result, Solskjaer claimed that there would be a response from his players, with ten Hag admitting after Monday's game that his side didn't perform.

"If the right players are there, available, we have a good squad, but we miss almost the whole back line and then we have problems," stated ten Hag.

“It is very disappointing. Under-performing. Definitely the worst defeat. We should have done better.

“We are aware, as a team performance, we were not correct, making big mistakes and not following the plan and the script and the rules we have.

“Yes (a low point), it was very poor how we gave the goals away, especially when we prepare the team and the conceding of the first goal is very disappointing.”

He added: “So far you have always seen a team that was playing and following the script. That is why, (yes) we didn’t have a lot of wins, but we were hard to beat. Today we were easy to beat.

“I am sure that the players had the right intention to come on and they were eager from the start, but once we were playing we didn’t perform. Individuals didn’t perform and, as a team, we didn’t perform.”

Fans are now drawing similarities between United's performance on Monday and what Keane was seeing five years ago.
