Crowds gather for anti-immigration protest in Dublin


Demonstrators gathered in Dublin on Monday for a protest about immigration.



Crowds gathered at the Garden of Remembrance before proceeding along O’Connell Street amid a strong Garda presence.

Many of the protesters held Irish flags and placards bearing messages such as “Irish Lives Matter” and “Coolock Says No”, while there were chants including “get them out”.

A counter protest took place outside the GPO in O’Connell Street where people held banners which read: “Unite against racism. Refugees welcome.”

In a statement to the Irish Mirror on Monday, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochana said: "Gardaí attended at a public gathering in the city centre. No arrests have been reported and no further comment is available."
