Liverpool told they must act now to prioritise two deals before all others this summer

Liverpool have been urged to tie down Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold to new contracts before completing any other business this summer.

Salah and Alexander-Arnold starred in the Reds' win over Tottenham on Sunday. The scoring was opened by Salah 15 minutes in, a week after the Egyptian clashed with manager Jurgen Klopp during the draw at West Ham.

But his contract at Anfield will expire next year, with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad having submitted a £150million bid to sign him last summer. Liverpool rejected that bid out of hand, though Salah has endured a mixed campaign.

And with Klopp leaving his post at the end of the season, Salah's future is expected to be pulled into sharp focus. Saudi clubs are likely to reignite their interest in the 31-year-old, with Liverpool running out of options before seeing him leave on a free next year.

His future will be Liverpool's biggest priority this summer, according to former Reds star Jamie Redknapp. The pundit conceded that Salah may well be on his way out of Anfield.

"The one thing is, when you look at the contract situation, there are players that have got like, obviously Trent and Virgil Van Dijk they've only got a year left of their contract. I think I won't be surprised if Mo Salah goes in the summer," Redknapp told Sky Sports.

"I can see that now he's 32 in June. I wouldn't be surprised if, and I think with Liverpool, maybe getting the money, the right money, and they're not going to say they're going to sell him. I could just see looked like he was going to go last year."

While Salah would be the priority if Redknapp was in charge behind the scenes at Anfield, Daniel Sturridge has insisted it is Alexander-Arnold's future that should be the focus. The right-back has once again starred despite an injury-disrupted season.

But his contract is entering its final two years, with plenty of rivals team growing interested in his services. And Sturridge believes the time is right to hand him a long-term deal to secure his future.

"That's a tough one, because I think all the top clubs around Europe are going to be sniffing. Then you've got Liverpool, who, I think they've got to do everything in their power to get him [Alexander-Arnold] to sign on a dotted line," Sturridge said.

"You can't lose a man of Trent, you know, he's from the city. You're talking guys like Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher, who have represented one club and and I think that's what you kind of want for Trent.

"Of course, Mo [Salah] and Virg [Van Dijk], they're guys that, you know, they've brought in. They've been absolutely world class for the football club. But the local lad in Trent who's become a superstar at the football clubs, he's the one that you want to make sure."
