Gardai release teen driver arrested following fatal single-vehicle collision in Wicklow


Gardaí have released the young man in his teens who was arrested following a tragic road collision in which a teenage girl died.



Officers are continuing to investigate the fatal single-vehicle road traffic collision that occurred shortly before 5am on Sunday at Slaney Park in Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow.



The passenger of the car involved, a female youth in her teens, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her body has been removed from the scene. A post-mortem will be conducted in the coming days. No other serious injuries to persons have been reported.

The driver of the car, a male youth in his teens, was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Road Traffic Act and detained at a Garda Station in Wicklow. He has since been released from custody. Investigations are ongoing and a file will be prepared for the DPP.



Forensic Collision Investigators have completed an examination of the scene and the road at Slaney Park has reopened.



Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.



Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam footage) and were travelling in the Slaney Park area between 4:30am and 5:00am are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
