BBC Top Gear fans sent into frenzy as Richard Hammond, James May and Jeremy Clarkson reunite

Top Gear fans are convinced a new show will be on the way as Richard Hammond, James May and Jeremy Clarkson reunited.

The trio left the BBC show in 2015 and went on to star in Amazon TV series The Grand Tour. However, after seven years on the new show, the TV stars have recently wrapped their final Grand Tour special. Jeremy was dropped from Top Gear following a reported incident during filming where he'd punched a producer over a row on set, prompting Hammond and May to leave the show.

They have remained close pals and headed to a pub for a pint in the warm weather alongside former racing driver and Top Gear host, Tiff Needell. Jeremy filmed the friends chatting in the sunshine and captioned the moment: "I’m in a time warp." Fans couldn't hold back their hopes of another TV reunion as one said: "Bloody hell some stories to tell round that table, all of you should do another show together."

Another added: "Its just soo good to see these guys as friends as well. Not just colleagues." Someone else mused: "Ok, hear me out, the coincidence of The Grand Tour ending and Top Gear ending at the same time maybe isn’t a coincidence?

"Perhaps the boys will come back to Top Gear and end it the way it should be ended, with these three at the helm. Maybe we’ll get a season or two of Top Gear? One can only dream this is what’s happening. I’d really hate to think that this next Grand Tour episode is the last we’ll see of our three favorite guys."

A fourth begged: "One more big grand tour with Tif and some other big names from back in the day would be one incredible way to bow out." Another fan exclaimed: "Yay, Tiff! He’s great. I love watching original Top Gear with Tiff." Earlier this year Richard teased a return to Top Gear along with May and Clarkson.

Asked by The Mirror if they might consider a return to the BBC series, Hammond laughed: "I don't know. I have no doubt Top Gear will come back one day. Somebody will pick it up and run with it. It’ll be a different show." He also believed there was no chance of Top Gear staying off air after BBC bosses decided to rest it following Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff 's accident.

The ex-cricketer, 46, was badly injured in a crash during filming in December 2022 when he was co-presenter with Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris. "It's been taken off-air and put back on many times before. They rest it. I'm sure somebody will take it up," Richard said.

He had two near-death crashes himself while on Top Gear, and says he takes safety very seriously. He added: "We probably know better than most that no matter how many precautions you take, accidents can still happen and things can still go wrong, and they do. It's then about how well-prepared are you to deal with it once the worst has happened, once it has gone wrong, if you have everything in place to cope with it."

Hammond said he, May and Clarkson have failed to grow up, as he shared: "I think we’re still the same three we each were when we were about 12."
