Five times Mo Salah and Jurgen Klopp have fallen out after furious Liverpool bust-up

As Liverpool's title challenge stumbled again against West Ham, t he sideline altercation between Mo Salah and Jurgen Klopp did little to reassure anyone all was well with the Reds.

The touchline squabble saw the Liverpool duo exchange words as the Egyptian winger prepared to enter the fray having been dropped from Klopp's starting XI. Darwin Nunez had to play peacemaker before the substitutions could take place.

Salah stormed down the tunnel at full-time of the defeat and while Klopp considered the matter done, the 31-year-old forward suggested there would be ' fire ' if he spoke. It looked like a long trip back to Liverpool awaited.

It's not the first time that the pair have seen conflict however or reached their boiling points. Though it's perhaps appeared a little more regular this term. Mirror Football takes a look at some of those clashes from the past...

Sheffield United vs Liverpool April 2024

You don't need to think too far back to recall more frustration, understandable given Liverpool's recent form. Just two minutes following Sheffield United's equaliser, Klopp decided to replace Salah.

The Egyptian accepted his coach's handshake but he did not look at the German coach as he made his way off the pitch. On that occasion all ended well as Liverpool produced a 3-1 win.

Chelsea vs Liverpool, August 2023

Another substitution where the game is still in the balance. With a team undergoing turnover still settling under Klopp, Liverpool were in need of a goal as the final 10 minutes approached.

The Reds boss decided to replace Salah, who had earlier had a goal ruled out by VAR, with Harvey Elliott and the former Chelsea winger threw down his bandages before the duo ignored each other as Salah left the field.

Brig hton vs Liverpool Marc h 2022

This time it was Klopp's turn to show some frustration. The former Borussia Dortmund coach was caught screaming at his charge after Salah missed a chance against Brighton.

The sharpshooter saw his strike saved by Robert Sanchez and Klopp was angered that he had not chosen to pass the ball to Luis Diaz who had given Liverpool a 1-0 lead. Klopp's message to 'pass the ball' was accompanied by an expletive or two as the German through his arms aggressively in the air.

Brighton vs Liverpool, November 2020

On this occasion Salah through his arms in the air when the board was raised to signal his subsitution. The Egyptian barely glanced at his boss on his way off the pitch to be replaced by Sadio Mane.

Liverpool had not long taken the lead through Diogo Jota when Salah was replaced. A stoppage time penalty ensured Brighton earned a draw.

In fairness to Klopp, Salah was returning having been out with COVID-19. The Liverpool boss said: "The day when Mohamed Salah is smiling when he leaves the pitch, something is really wrong.

"I get it 100 per cent but the problem is he was out with COVID for 10 days. He trained one, played 60 minutes and then plays again three days later. We just have to be careful. He doesn’t like that, we know that, but that’s it."

May 2022 saw Salah attempt to offer some explanation for why he can sometimes become frustratated with Klopp. The Liverpool star did start off with praise however.

"I think he knows how to make everyone around the team happy,” Salah said, before joking, “Sometimes he makes me angry, he knows that!”

Salah explained: “Because he tells me that it’s not normal that you play every minute in the league. But I always say ‘look, if I recover good and do everything good then why not’, but I understand."
