Electric Picnic 2024 line-up branded 'the worst of all time' as ticketholders left underwhelmed

The line-up for this year's Electric Picnic festival was finally revealed on Friday afternoon, with many ticketholders left underwhelmed by the long-awaited announcement.

Over 50 acts were confirmed to perform at Ireland’s largest music and arts festival, which is taking place in Stradbally Co. Laois from Friday August 16 to Sunday August 18.

Headlining this year's event is legendary pop superstar Kylie Minogue, who will close out the festival's Main Stage on Sunday night, along with chart-topping DJ Calvin Harris and Stick Season singer Noah Kahan.

The trio will be joined in Stradbally by the likes of RAYE, Gerry Cinnamon, Peggy Gou, NAS, Faithless and Kasabian, along with a number of homegrown acts such as Kodaline, Jazzy, Kneecap, Damien Dempsey and the Wolfe Tones, who return to Electric Picnic to perform on the Main Stage following the record crowds at Electric Arena last year.

Tickeholders had grown frustrated in recent weeks over the lack of updates about this year's line-up, with organisers usually revealing the acts set to play the festival in March.

The line-up for the 2024 festival was finally confirmed on Friday, but many fans were left disappointed by the announcement, with underwhelmed ticketholders taking to social media to air their frustrations.

The line-up for Electric Picnic 2024

"Has to be the most underwhelming Electric Picnic lineup," wrote one person on X (formerly Twitter), while another added: "A lineup so god awful I am actually impressed. Electric Picnic you have outdone yourself."

A third person said that the line-up "is so bad that I genuinely feel awful for everyone who has a ticket", while another called it "literally the worst lineup of all time".

A number of fans hit out at organisers for the delay in announcing this year's acts, with one writing: "Can’t believe Electric Picnic made people wait for THAT lineup, so glad I don’t have a ticket now", and another adding: "Absolutely shocking line up. EP cannot be classed anymore as a Tier 1 festival anymore, woeful headliners .. what was the buildup all about????"

Some people were left so disappointed that they have decided to sell their tickets, with one person writing on X: "Selling 2 electric picnic tickets (have to wait until closer to transfer them) because this lineup is so bad," while another said: "Shockingly bad lineup even for EP standards. I’m selling my ticket if anyone is looking!".

Another fans said that "Electric Picnic organisers... have shafted the country of a fortune only to deliver that line up," while another called it "possibly the weakest line up they've ever had. It's a festival on the way out. Cheaper and better festivals in Europe. Its a shame...used to be great."

While most people were left underwhelmed by this year's line-up, one act who many fans are delighted to see on the bill is Kylie Minogue.

The Australian pop superstar is set to make her Electric Picnic debut this summer, with some fans saying that the legendary singer is worth the price of the ticket alone.

"The electric picnic line up is shocking but the ticket is worth it for Kylie Minogue alone my queen," said one fan, while another added: "Clearly no more budget judging by the rest of the line up but… KYLIE for Electric Picnic!!!"

Electric Picnic will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2024, with tickets selling out within an hour of going on sale back in September.
