ITV Emmerdale's Mark Charnock teases devastating Marlon Dingle and Rhona Goskirk twist

Emmerdale actor Mark Charnock appeared on Thursday's This Morning to discuss his character Marlon Dingle's latest storyline.

Only recently on the ITV soap, Marlon was left utterly betrayed and devastated when wife Rhona Goskirk threw a curve ball during her court proceedings with ex-husband Gus Malcolms.

Both Gus and Marlon were blindsided when Rhona turned on her ex-husband in court, with her "unable to lie for him" after months of torment. Her statement no doubt encouraged his disastrous sentencing in court, with him sentenced to eight years in prison, before being led away by officers.

Rhona's damning statement left the villagers reeling and her marriage with Marlon very unstable as prior to court, Rhona had agreed to read out a victim impact statement, which could have led to Gus getting a lighter sentence and he had already signed documents so they could see baby Ivy.

Gus had been charged after using frozen embryos that belonged to him and Rhona when they were married years earlier, without Rhona's permission to use them.

She thought they had been destroyed decades ago, and when Gus shared his plans to use them with new wife Lucy she refused to give permission. He forged Rhona's signature though and Lucy fell pregnant, but sadly she died during Ivy's birth.

Since then Rhona has been keen to help raise her biological daughter, but Gus tried to flee to France with Ivy behind Rhona's back resulting in Rhona taking her. Their battle for Ivy resulted in Rhona facing charges of kidnapping, before eventually being cleared while Gus has been sentenced to eight years in prison for fraud.

Talking about the storyline on Thursday's This Morning, Marlon actor Mark, 55, admitted the storyline "could go anywhere" after Rhona's betrayal in court and even hinted at a split. Talking about Marlon's past stroke storyline, the actor said: "He does refer to it a few times when he's talking to Paddy, his best mate, he does say: 'This is stressing me out and you know stress is bad for stroke survivors', it is, it's not a good thing.

"But the whole point of this story and the way that he reacts to it and the way they start locking horns over it is it could go anywhere. Marlon hasn't got a good track record, he's been married five times. He loves love... he's just not consistent.

"It's been fascinating to play and it's been really detailed. Every time you get a script, it's brilliant, you know, you're having to make gear changes about your position, like the audience's position, is changing all the time."
