PA revokes sheep farm permit in Bahrija

A sheep farm built in an Area of Ecological Importance (AEI) in the Bahrija area back in 2020 has had its development permission revoked earlier today by the Planning Board, the PA said Thursday.

The board noted that when the development application was being assessed the provisions of Local Plan Policy NWCO 6, which is applicable for Areas of Ecological Importance (AEIs) and Sites of Scientific Importance (SSIs), were not discussed.

As a result, no screening was carried out whether or not an environmental impact assessment needed to be undertaken.

The board unanimously agreed that this resulted in an error on the face of the record and revoked the development permit on this site.

The board decided that this same development application PA/07946/18 will be re-published and have to go through the entire full processing including consultations, assessments and a decision, the PA said.
