Secretary of State Warns That Migration is Not a Solution for Economic and Demographic Decline

“Mass immigration will not halt Europe’s demographic and economic decline,” emphasized Miklós Panyi, Parliamentary and Strategic Secretary of State of  the Prime Minister’s Office.

During his address at the “Ships and Pacts – the Migration Question and Europe” conference at the National University of Public Service (NKE), The Secretary of State highlighted that despite anticipated benefits, immigration exacerbates existing social issues and generates new tensions. He underscored Hungary’s unchanged migration policy, focusing on border protection and offering aid to areas people leave seeking better lives.

Mr. Panyi emphasized the importance of family policies to counter population decline and the necessity to safeguard Europe’s external borders.

Despite Hungary’s significant spending on border protection, Miklós Panyi lamented the minimal reimbursement by the EU. He criticized the EU’s inability to openly discuss migration since 2019 and rejected ideologies promoting mass cultural transformation in Western European societies. Mr. Panyi also denounced the recent migration pact, which shields NGOs promoting illegal migration from legal accountability.

He advocated for a new migration strategy and leadership within the EU.

Nicolas Pouvreau-Monti, founder of the “Migration and Demography Review,” presented France’s migration situation. He highlighted statistics correlating increased immigration with decreased living standards for the French populace, attributed to the strain on the state’s resources and high unemployment among new arrivals.

Additionally, Mr. Pouvreau-Monti noted France’s family reunification policy since the 1970s, contributing to a rising proportion of individuals with migrant backgrounds in French society.
