Urgent recall issued for heat pad sold at TK Maxx due to risk of electric shock

An urgent recall has been issued for a popular home heating product sold throughout Irish stores as it presents a risk of electric shock and burns for the user.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission recalled the Bluzen Deluxe Heating Pad sold at TK Maxx and Homesense was hit with a recall notice after it was found the product can overheat.

According to the consumer watchdog, the product has a risk of electric shock, fire, burns and damage to property as the connector attached to the heat pad can overheat and melt during use.

There are approximately 192 affected products in the Republic of Ireland. The product was on sale in TK Maxx and Homesense stores between December 2023 and March 2024.

The brand is Bluzen. The model numbers are Heat101 and Heat102. The product code shown on the price sticker and the receipt will be either 032719, 936707, 936723, 936724 or 936728. The barcode and batch number are unknown.

Customers have been advised to stop using the product immediately and return it to any TK Maxx or Homesense store for a full refund.
