Rome security plan triggered for 25 April

The security plan in Rome prepared
for Liberation Day on 25 April is already kicking off Wednesday,
officials in the capital said.

Checks and sweeps will be carried out in the Porta San Paolo
area and in the adjacent areas where the various Liberation
celebrations will take place, they said.

Maximum attention was displayed in the morning at Porta San
Paolo where, at 8 a.m., the Jewish community laid a wreath and,
at the same time in nearby Piazzale Ostiense, Palestinian
students and movements for the 'anti-fascist and anti-Zionist 25
April' gathered.

The measures were finalised at a provincial security committee
in the prefecture and at a technical round table in the police
headquarters.

On Thursday Italy celebrates its 1945 liberation form
Nazi-Fascism.
