Ireland weather: Sunshine and dry spells for weekend but unsettled week ahead

Temperatures are set to shoot up to the high teens over the weekend as rain clears away leading to a dray and sunny few days.

Although things could get cold on Friday evening when the mercury will drop to 0C leading to a touch of grass frost forming in parts, Saturday will see temperatures soar to 17C thanks to an area of high pressure settling in.

This good weather is set to carry over until Monday, with dry clear, sunny spells expected up to Tuesday - when isolated patches of drizzle will creep in, giving way to a break in the good weather.

The further outlook to midweek next week suggests more unsettled conditions will return with rain at times and temperatures falling back to 10C to 12C in the afternoons.

Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather has forecast some scattered showers over Friday with some frost through the night before some long-awaited sunny spells all weekend.

He wrote: “A cloudy start to Friday with some scattered showers but clearing South with good sunny spells developing in the afternoon and evening and then a cold clear night tomorrow night with some frost. Warmer and good sunny spells Saturday and Sunday with light East winds.”

Meanwhile, here is the Met Éireann weekend forecast:
