Man, 40s, arrested in connection with 2022 Kerry cemetery killing


A man, 40s, has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing at a cemetery in Co. Kerry in October 2022.



Thomas 'Tom' Dooley, 43, was killed on October 5, 2022, following the burial of young Killarney mother-of-five Bridget O'Brien.



The father-of-seven from Ballyspillane in Killarney, died from multiple injuries after he was assaulted at Rathass Cemetery in Tralee after attending the funeral.

"As part of the ongoing investigation into the fatal assault in Rathass Cemetery, Tralee, Co. Kerry on the 5th October 2022, Gardaí on Thursday, 18th April 2024, arrested a man aged in his 40s," said a gardai spokesperson.



"He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in Co. Kerry. He has been charged and will appear before a special sitting of Listowel District Court this morning, at 10:30am, Thursday 18th April 2024.



"This is the sixth person to be charged in connection with this fatal assault."
