Jake Paul takes dig at old rival Tommy Fury before Mike Tyson fight

Jake Paul has doubled down on claims Tommy Fury priced himself out of a rematch.

YouTube-turned-boxer Paul suffered his first and only boxing defeat when he was beaten by Love Island star Fury last year. Paul has since been pushing for a rematch ever since but talks broke down and he will now face boxing legend Mike Tyson on July 20 at the 80,000 seat AT&T Stadium in a mega-event.

Paul, who is signed to MMA promotion PFL, claimed he offer Fury a massive $20million for a two-fight deal that would see them rematch in boxing and then have a cage fight. "Most Valuable Promotions, me and Nakisa [Bidarian], had been trying to find the right fight, the right timeframe, the right event," Paul said.

"We knew we wanted to target this summer so we just started making calls. We called Tommy Fury, was one of the names, and he said no, he wanted more money. So now, and it's all serendipitous, he's probably punching the f***ing air now realising how big of a mistake he made, I mean, he's an idiot.

"Literally, the next offer for him is like nothing, basically, and my brand only increases to a whole other level. We probably would've been like 50/50 for that fight and now it's like after this, and who knows what I'm going to do. It's like Tommy I'm sorry buddy, you're like a 10 per center now, but you really did f*** up."

Fury underwent hand surgery at the beginning of this year and hasn't fought since controversially beating Paul's bitter rival KSI last October. The brother of heavyweight champion Tyson was briefly linked to a fight against Roy Jones Jr., the last man to fight Tyson, but talks have since fizzled out.

Many of the details for Paul and Tyson's fight are currently unclear but it's understood they both want it to be sanctioned as a professional bout. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations [TDLR] will have the final say on the matter and if it does go down as an exhibition bout, no judges will score the fight and rounds will be two minutes long instead of three.
