Gerald Kean was once a regular on our TV screen - from representing high-profile clients in his day job as a solicitor to courting reality TV fame on Celebrity Bainisteoir, RSVP reports.

The sharp dresser often graced the social page of the newspapers or the pages of glossy celeb magazines but his public persona has dimmed somewhat in recent years.

Kean was well known for his frequent appearances on television and in the media as the legal representative of a number of celebrity clients.

The lawyer further gained notoriety after he competed in the first season of Celebrity Bainisteoir. Fishing in a very respectable second place after RTE’s Marty Whelan. The Cork native later wrote a book about the experience.

In his heyday, Kean often appeared in newspapers and magazines for his relationship with Dublin housewives star and former fiancé Lisa Murphy and later, his on-again-off-again romance with the glamorous Sonya Valadi.

Speaking to RSVP back in 2020, Gerald revealed that despite his several broken engagements, he still very much believes in love.

"My parents marriage of forty years was a great influence on me. Now it didn’t work, I’ve been divorced I think I’ve been engaged four times, but I love being in a relationship" he said.

"Their marriage was something I very much admired and it influenced me at an early stage to understand love better, but I think theirs was unique and I don’t see many of those marriages."

And despite having a number of high profile splits, Gerald says he has never been left heartbroken, admitting, that for him when he feels a relationship may have run his course, the struggle is to stay and work on it.

"I have never had my heartbroken thank god. I have enjoyed every relationship, but I think when a relationship is coming to an end it is coming to an end" he admits.

"My difficulty would be that I probably don’t work as hard as I should if its coming to an end. I’m sure there is great work done by couple’s counsellors but if you are open about your relationship and talk, there is not much a counsellor could do for me because I’ve already discussed how I feel and the problems.

"And if there is not a reaction or a working together sense then i just say don’t worry about it. If it’s not working out it's better to move on.

"I’ve been in about nine serious relationships in my lifetime, and I’ve always wanted to try and remain friends but in the majority of cases that doesn’t seem to work out. I would be the first to send a Christmas card, a birthday card or a gift, but it doesn’t seem to work for me anyway. "

Most recently, Gerald was spotted at the wedding of his good friend, Cork councillor Ken O’Flynn, and his partner Francisco Cuevas.

The newlyweds had a stunning ceremony in Franciso’s native Spain at the end of August, and Gerald was photographed with his arms around the happy grooms during the boisterous reception.
